The story of the Lion and the Hare in Kalila and Dimna contains numerous social and political teachings, each of which is also discussed in contemporary sociology and political science. The aim of this study is to examine the social and political lessons embedded in this story, whose observance by leaders within society can lead to awareness, vigilance, stability, welfare, and protection from external dangers and threats. The present research was conducted using a qualitative method. Data were collected through a review of existing works on the content analysis of Kalila and Dimna, as well as literature in the fields of sociology, politics, and management. Relevant themes were extracted through textual content analysis of the book. An in-depth examination of the story of the Lion and the Hare reveals numerous socio-educational themes, including continuous assessment of circumstances, situational control, the necessity of an alert and knowledgeable leader, the need for leadership and management during times of crisis, risk and crisis management, risk-taking, leadership qualities, and the role of critical thinking, planning, implementation, action, courage, and bravery in confronting danger. A profound reflection on the narrative and the extraction of these concepts demonstrate that the storytellers of ancient India and the translator-author skillfully embedded diverse and valuable social and political ideas within each section of this seemingly simple tale. These ideas are articulated by contemporary scholars in the form of complex theoretical frameworks.
